Inclusion

The PNW Show is for everyone in the region, as audience members and as contributors.

Participation

We strive to go beyond traditional dimensions of accessibility to welcome meaningful contribution from people with limited time, experience, and predictability of life circumstances.

Roles

Specifically, we are developing roles with manageable time committment, flexible schedules, and self-contained responsibilities. For example:

  • Writing rooms that meet regularly to develop sketches together, with a manageable scripts for limited time committments and a supportive group environment to learn and develop skills
  • Production teams that film sketches with different required skills, varied locations, and adaptable schedules
  • Live production that is carefully planned for both in-depth and casual opportunities, embracing the rough edges of live performance over polish at all costs

Artistic development

The archer with 100 arrows is more likely to hit the target (and become a better shot) than someone with just one.

We all grow through experimentation and practice. Without commercial pressure or an employment relationship, we strive for a lower barrier to entry for exploration and development. We hope the rapid feedback cycle of a recurring sketch show will provide artists with opportunities to develop their skills in a safe, supportive, and experimental setting.

Technology

Sometimes technology is used to push harder: higher production values, smaller teams, lower budgets, tighter deadlines. We hope instead to thoughtfully use technology to make storytelling more accessible for audiences and participants.

Our plan for a mixed live show and pre-recorded segments is partly designed to maximize flexibility for participants – flexibility of time, location, ability, and more.

Community

More than anything else, we are building a supportive community. We want to tell stories, support each other, and grow together with roles for those just passing by and those interested in a deeper committment.
